Risky Pigging

Depending on the type of pipeline you have or the regularity in which it is cleaned will affect the risk to the operator and piping system.

Regularly scheduled pigging, whether weekly, monthly or some other time frame, is recommended for pipelines known to produce wax or sand deposits in order to keep consistent flow and to prevent potential blockage. Routine pigging operations allow the amount of buildup in the line as well as the features of the pipeline to be known, thus lowering the risk of the pigging session.

In contrast, extended periods of time between pigging sessions tend to result in a higher rate of risk for the pipeline operator,as well as the pipe itself. This is due, mainly, to the unknown condition of the piping. Many older pipelines may never have been pigged in their lifetime because they were constructed without pig launchers or receivers. Additional risk factors arise from infrequent pigging, where a pipeline may have extensive internal buildup of various deposits or been subjected to external damage. Both of these situations will result in considerable restricted movement of the poly pig equipment.

Don’t gamble with the potential risks. Put your piping system in the hands of professionals, like Roger M Cimbora, Sr., General Manager and his well trained associates at Professional Piping Services. Wastewater reuse or water reclamation pipeline cleaning

I covered this briefly a while back but I thought it could use a little deeper treatment, so here goes:

Wastewater reuse or water reclamation, commonly known as reclaimed or recycled water comes from diverting what would be wastewater into a system where it will be ‘reused’ for non-potable needs.

Greywater Pipe System Cleaning

Reclaimed water systems generally reuse greywater. Greywater, on average, accounts for nearly 60% of all wastewater produced in homes and typically comes from bathtubs and showers, washing machines, sinks and dishwashers. The design of such plumbing systems makes this greywater available to be used or ‘recycled’ for irrigation purposes, exterior washing among many other applications. Thus, offering significant environmental and water conservation benefits.

The demand and use of reclaimed or reuse.water continues to expand in order to be compliant with changing cost effective practices and conservation demands.

As with all piping systems, your reuse water pipes can benefit from cleaning to help maintain maximum flow capacity for many reasons including;
  • Various biological growths, which are not removed by flushing, are found in the system
  • The system was installed under challenging circumstances and/or not properly cleaned prior to it being placed in service
  • Multiple grievances about plugged sprinkler heads, valves or controls and piping
Let the friendly people at Professional Piping services help you. Call them toll free at 800-780-6098 or locally in Tampa Bay area at 813-994-0032 to discuss all your pipeline needs.

The Importance of Unobstructed Flow

For companies that depend on an unobstructed flow of product, pipeline cleaning produces a level of assurance that their pipelines will continue to be free flowing. Buildup inside the piping system will slow that flow of product, and can in time plug the pipeline.  This level of obstruction can cause hazardous cracks and flaws to the pipeline.

Pipeline Pigs, or Poly Pigs, expedite the cleaning of piping systems by scraping the inner walls of the pipes and clearing or pushing out the debris as it moves along. The poly pig can also be set to inspect the line as it cleans.

Professional Piping Services offers various pipeline cleaning solutions for various types of industries, including but not limited to; refineries, food processing, chemical, and manufacturing plants, as well as making newly constructed pipelines ready prior to being commissioned.

There are general steps taken that apply to the majority of piping systems to be cleaned such as; arranging the pipes valving to segregate the leg that is being cleaned, locating and operating all lateral and/or in-line valves that will be used during the pigging session, insuring the direction of the integrity and flow of the pipeline by the launching of a line size swab, and utilizing a series of pigs in various densities and/or dimensions to obtain optimal cleaning.

A blog for me to talk about my clients that serve Miami, Florida

I maintain various blogs about different topics. Some of them are about a wide range of topics. Some of them have no focus whatsoever!

Here's one that is more narrowly focused:

This is my Miami Service Providers blog over on Weebly.

Miami is a huge city in Sunny South Florida with a multitude of businesses to meet the needs of the nearly 3 million people who live nearby.
